Re-Imagining Leadership with Dennis Edwards

We are overjoyed to announce Dennis Edwards, a Pastor & Author of I Peter Commentary, will be joining us at The Praxis Gathering 2018

Dennis Edwards is a learner and a teacher, a husband and a father, a pastor and servant. He has a MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and both his MA and PhD (in Biblical Studies) are from The Catholic University of America. He has been in urban ministry for 3 decades, having started churches in Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC, and serves at The Sanctuary Covenant Church in Minneapolis, MN. This Fall Dennis Edwards and Scot McKnight are launching an innovative Master of Arts in New Testament degree (MANT) at Northern Seminary that will provide grounding in the theology that emerges from the first century context of the New Testament writings. He likes to lift weights, ride his bicycle, play racquetball, play around on his saxophone and flute, eat, and read.

As a grounded practitioner himself, Dennis will be presenting these essential workshops for Re-imagining Leadership:

Dynamics of Multi-Ethnic Leadership

Multi-ethnic ministry is more than a brochure picture with different colored faces. Those called to lead multi-ethnic Christian communities must learn to love, serve, and build trust with each other. We also need to become self-aware so as to handle the inevitable mistakes, misunderstandings, and difficult conversations that are a necessary part of multiethnic ministry.

Leading With Open Hands

Leading in the way of Jesus means learning how to share—and at times relinquish—power. Although sometimes mistaken for weakness or vacillation, true servant leadership requires special strength and a dedication to see others grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus.
