We summarize our mission as a movement in the phrase “Make disciples. Plant Churches. Grow a Movement.” because a “movemental” approach is key to everything The V3 Movement teaches.
What is the difference between “church planting” and the approach that V3 advocates? It begins with specific competencies. We strive to embed these in a church planter or church planting team so that they can be replicated in their disciples. These competencies address the planter’s relationship to God, the surrounding neighborhood, and their approach to leadership and more. However, unlike some approaches, the end goal is not just a viable plant. The end goal is a group of people who have joined God’s missional movement where they are at, and continue to multiply churches and movements as they go.
JR Woodward is National Director of The V3 Movement. Before that, he helped plant churches on both the East Coast and the West Coast. He is the author of Creating a Missional Culture: Equipping the Church for the Sake of the World. He has also helped launch other burgeoning movements, such as the Ecclesia Network and Missio Alliance. He is a surfer, photographer, traveler and film lover.
